Judy has over 20 years of hands-on experience helping to position companies for marketplace success. Her thought leadership and insight have driven top and bottom line impact for clients like Visa, Wells Fargo, HP, Chevron, Payless ShoeSource, Mattel, and American Girl.
Judy has been a member of the senior leadership teams at multi-channel retailers and leading consulting firms. At Illuminations, she was SVP of e-Commerce and Catalog. She launched the company’s web channel and was responsible for the e-Commerce and catalog P&Ls. She led all online marketing initiatives, introduced email marketing and using it to drive traffic across channels, structured strategic partnerships with Yahoo and AOL to drive traffic, and oversaw the call center, web merchandising and promotions. She grew web revenues 30x in 18 months while increasing catalog sales incrementally. At Patagonia, Judy was Director of Corporate Strategy, and led the company’s exploration of profitable paths to growth.
Consulting has been the bulk of Judy’s career. She started at The Boston Consulting Group, and advanced from Associate to Manager. She was an Associate Partner in Accenture’s West Coast strategy practice and a leader in its North American Retail market unit. At Prophet Brand Strategy, she was the San Francisco office Managing Partner, led client relationships, and wrote and spoke extensively on achieving and measuring brand impact.
Judy has served on the Advisory Boards of two startups that provided innovative tools to improve the online customer experience. Netconversions focused on driving retail site conversion and was acquired by aQuantive. Quick Dog’s product preference matching solution was acquired by Lands’ End.
Judy is on the Marketing faculty at UC Berkeley’s Haas School of Business where she teaches Brand Strategy & Management to upper division undergraduate students, sponsors the Decal course on Social Media, and serves as the undergraduate faculty advisor for Marketing. She earned a B.A. in Political Science/Public Service from University of California at Davis, and a Master of Public Policy from University of Michigan in Ann Arbor.
